Seven o'clock. The phone goes. Everyone is carrying plates.

A table for four on Saturday is worth more than the call takes to answer. Talkify takes it, puts it on a screen at the pass, and keeps taking them after you shut.

The bookings you lose are the ones made after you shut.

People decide where they are eating on Saturday at nine on a Wednesday night, from the sofa. Ring out then and they have booked elsewhere by morning.

Mid-service

Nobody can stop

Takes the name, the covers and the time, without pulling anyone off a table.

After you close

Still taking Saturday

A weekend table is fine to take at eleven at night. It is on the screen when you walk in.

Your rules

Written once, in your words

No groups over ten without a deposit. Last sitting at half eight. Tell it once and it holds the line every time.

The phone rings. Nobody stops.

Any tablet, laptop or spare screen with a browser on it. Nothing to install.

Answers every call.

All of them at once, on the second ring, however busy you are.

Asks the right things.

And writes what they asked for on the line it belongs to, in their words.

Lands mid-call.

The ticket fills in while they talk, so you see a big booking coming.

You set the wait.

Tap a time and every caller after that is told it. Change it as the night goes on; it goes quiet on its own so a lunchtime figure is never quoted at nine.

Run out? One tap.

Tap the item on the screen and the agent stops selling it from the very next call, and takes it off any booking a caller tries anyway. Everything comes back at midnight on its own.

Pricing

Two ways to pay. No setup fee either way.

Most shops start here Pay as you go $10/month

Then $1 a minute, only on calls you take.

  • $10 free credit to start
  • A quiet Tuesday costs almost nothing
  • Cancel any time

Suits a phone that goes in bursts: weekend trade, seasonal, or still working out the numbers.

Reception agent $129/month

Flat, per number. Founding rate, then $199.

  • 200 call minutes and 50 texts a month
  • Up to 3 agents on the number
  • Extra minutes 10c each

Suits a phone that barely stops through service, where you would rather know the figure up front.

+$59/mo

Front Counter, the screen itself. As many tablets as you like, on either plan, with sold-out taps, docket printing, daily order numbers and an end-of-day close-out included. Texts from the screen are 10c each and WhatsApp is free.

How the screen works

The screen needs an agent answering the phone, so it is one of the two above plus Front Counter, whichever suits a restaurant. Full price list.

Frequently asked.

Nine of the questions we hear most. If yours isn't here, ring our live demo agent on 03 242 1262, it'll either answer or queue a callback from a human.

We already have a booking book. Does this replace it?
Only if you want it to. Most places keep the book and let the screen feed it: the booking lands on a tablet at the pass with the name, the number of covers and when they want to come in, and whoever runs the floor writes it in as normal. If you would rather it went into a real diary, Talkify books straight into Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, Calendly, Zenoti, GymMaster and MechanicDesk instead.
What stops it taking a booking we cannot seat?
On the screen version, nothing does, and that is deliberate: it takes the request and you say yes or no, the same as a call you took yourself. Nothing is confirmed to the customer until a person on your floor has looked at it. If you want it checking real availability and confirming on the spot, connect a diary and it will.
Can it take a booking when we are closed?
Yes, and that is where most of them come from. A table for Saturday is perfectly fine to take at eleven on a Tuesday night. If you also do takeaway, it will still refuse an order at that hour, because nobody is in the kitchen to cook it.
What about the big ones? Twelve for a birthday.
The number of covers sits on the ticket as one large figure, because that is the thing that decides whether you can take it at all. You can also tell the agent your own rules once, in your own words: no groups over ten without a deposit, no bookings after nine on a Sunday, and it will follow them.
Do they get a confirmation?
When you tap the ticket to accept it, yes. The message is already written with their name and the time on it, and your staff can change it before it goes. WhatsApp where they have it, which is free, or an ordinary text where they do not.
Dietary requirements and allergies?
They go in their own field and show in red on the screen, separate from the general note. The kitchen sees it as a line of its own rather than something buried in a sentence about a birthday cake.
Does it handle people ringing to cancel?
It takes the message and puts it on the screen the same way, so the cancellation is in front of the person who can free the table rather than on a voicemail nobody checks until nine.
We are in Australia. Does it work here?
Yes. Australian numbers are answered in Australian data centres and New Zealand numbers in New Zealand ones, and the agent speaks the way your guests do.
What does it cost?
Pay as you go is $10 a month for the number plus $1 a minute, which suits a place whose phone goes hardest at the weekend. A reception agent on a flat monthly plan is $129/month at the founding rate for your first 3 months, then $199. The screen at the pass is $59 a month on top. No setup fee, no lock in.
